In an attempt to get a raise she agrees to track down an unknown person who's rent hasn't been payed for a while. The person turns out to be Peter Sadusky who recognizes Jess' necklace, and gives her a letter dressed to his grandson Liam Sadusky. The next day Jess is questioned by fake FBI agents who inform her that Sadusky had died. Jess quickly deducts that they are not the real FBI by their badges which are signed by the president, while the real badges would be signed by the United States attorney general. Jess decides to give the letter to Liam, but he doesn't want to do anything with his grandfather. When Jess is about to discard the box with Sadusky's things, she realizes that the Gavel is a clue. Jess convinces Tasha to help her in looking into the clue, but they are followed by the fake FBI, and have to avoid them for a bit. In the King's Arms Lodge, Jess uses the Gavel to lead her to the Masonic Table, which has one star that acts as key hole. Inserting the Gavel to it the reflection revealed the location of the Aztec Relic.[2]

Jess is contacted by Billie Pearce who has kidnapped her friend Oren Bradley and threatens to kill him if Jess doesn't give her the Aztec relic. Jess suggests meeting in the USS Kidd gift shop for the exchange.[3]
