John Adams Gates is the father of Patrick Henry Gates and the grandfather of Benjamin Franklin Gates.
Biography[]
John Gates was born around 1906 to his father Charles Gates. In 1974, John finds young Ben in the attic trying to sneak a peak of an old album. John thinks Ben is old enough to hear the story about how Thomas Gates received the clue The Secret lies with Charlotte which would lead to Templar Treasure and proceeds to tell him that. They are interrupted by his son Patrick who has lost faith of the treasure hunting business. Just before Ben leaves, he shows interest in the story, and wants to be knight, John then playfully knights him.

- Considering his age, he most probably died before the events of the first film.
